Virat Kohli was born on 5th November 1988 in Delhi. His family is from Punjab. His parents are Prem and Saroj Kohli.
Virat started cricket seriously in 1998. He joined West Delhi cricket academy. His coach was Rajkumar Sharma. In 2006, he played for India's Under-19 team in England.
His coach at West Delhi Cricket academy, Ajeet Chaudhury, gave him the nickname "Cheeku".
In 2008, Virat led India's Under-19 cricket team to win the World Cup. He scored 635 runs in 6 matches.
Virat played his first big international game in 2008. He played against Sri Lanka because Sachin and Sehwag were hurt. He scored 12 runs.
Virat was part of India's team that won the 2011 World Cup under Dhoni’s leadership. It was India's first World Cup win in 28 years.
Virat has never been auctioned in the IPL. He has played in all seasons without being sold.
In 2011, Virat took a wicket without bowling a normal delivery. He got Kevin Pietersen out on the first ball of a T20 match.
Virat scored 100 runs in his first World Cup match in 2011. He was the first Indian to do so.
In 2018, Virat scored over 500 runs in a series against South Africa. He was the only one to do this in cricket history.
