Every year on September 11th, we remember and honor brave people who protected our forests.
Back in the 18th century, in a place called Khejarli, Rajasthan, some very brave people gave up their lives to save the trees.
In 1730, a lady named Amrita Devi and 363 other villagers hugged the trees tightly to stop them from being cut down for building things. They lost their lives because of this.
In 2013, our government officially declared that this day is very important to remember and thank those who protect our forests.
